To make the transition towards a low-carbon society a success, new sets of competencies are needed in the European job market. Informally and non-formally gained competencies, need to be formally acknowledged in order to become meaningful indicators on the job market.  Certified Professional addresses both issues by certifying cross-functional competencies and by introducing a standard for future-oriented skills.

The Competency Framework is the backbone of the certificate. It defines informally and non-formally gained competencies by referring to practical experiences of certificate holders. This allows for an assessment of an applicant's competencies. The Competency Framework builds on academic theories and concepts but is practice oriented in its configuration. It has been developed in cooperation with renowned experts in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and transition and incorporates basic standards of existing competency descriptions and certification bodies, such as the Universal Competency Framework or Cedefop.
